Last week of term :(

The year has certainly flown by. It does not seem long since the Autumn term.

We will be sad to see our class leave on Friday but at least we get to see them grow in confidence and maturity as they go up through the school for the next four years.

This week the last PE day will be Tuesday then I will send the kit home. Some of the children’s books will be coming home this week. Some I need to keep until the end of the Autumn term.

Thank you for all your support this year it has been lovely getting to know you all.
From the Year 2 team.

Picnic

What lovely weather we had for our picnic.

Thank you so much to all the parents who were able to attend.

The children worked very hard to make all the flapjacks, rocky road, muffins and sandwiches.

We had lots of positive comments from parents who all enjoyed a chance to chat with other KS 1 parents. Here are just a few of the pictures we took during the afternoon.

Think Tank

What a great day at the science museum. We all had so much fun and the children really enjoyed themselves. The day flew by and many of the children would love to go back soon. Here are just some of the great pictures we took today.

Plants

Our sunflowers have now got so tall we have had to re pot them and put them outside. They seem to be growing every day.
You may have noticed a new planter outside Year 2. We are hoping to put our beans in there.

We have been looking carefully at the main parts of a plant : roots, stem, leaves, flower, stigma and stamen.

We have been learning about which parts of the plants we eat.

Did you know that broccoli and cauliflower are actually a plants flowers !

Did you know that celery and leeks are the stems of a plant!

In numeracy we have been working on some very tricky problems this week. We have had to work methodically and as a team. Have all ok at this website for some great numeracy problems http://rich.math.org/front page.

We have also been working on capacity and learning about litres and millilitres.
